Todd Howard: Ten percent of the planets in Starfield contain life

Todd Howard has released more details about Starfield. According to Bethesda’s CEO, about ten percent of the planets in the game contain virtual life. Howard states that the game emulates a sense of “beautiful desolation” at times.

Todd Howard states during an interview with Kinda Funny Podcasts that the development studio has followed science and has therefore provided about ten percent of the planets with virtual life. According to Howard, the ‘bare’ planets in Starfield would be worth a visit.

“We will generate things such as raw materials on these planets”, it sounds. “There is a moment on these planets when you have found resources and a feeling of ‘magnificent desolation’ or “magnificent desolation sets in.” Howard refers to a quote from the American astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who also published an autobiographical book with the same title in 2009.

Previous reports show that Starfield will receive over a thousand planets . That is, the game should contain about 100 planets with virtual life. Players can freely fly to those planets and collect resources with a laser, complete missions and encounter ‘unexpected things’. Planets are procedurally generated as a player approaches them. Blocks of terrain are then merged. Locations, creatures and resources will then be added.

Microsoft has in June shared more details about Starfield. Starfield is out on September 6. The game will then appear for PCs and the Xbox Series X and S. It will be the first major game released by Bethesda Softworks since this studio was acquired by Microsoft.
