ASUS warns about overheating of microSD cards at ROG Ally

The microSD card reader of the ASUS ROG Ally may malfunction due to overheating ‘in some circumstances’. The company says it will fix affected handhelds and is working on an update to improve fan speeds.

An ASUS employee says on Discord that it can confirm, based on its own tests, that the microSD card reader can overheat and break down as a result. Users can expand the storage of the handheld console with a microSD card.

ASUS says it will release an update that will increase the default and minimum fan speeds. For example, the company wants to increase the reliability of the handheld ‘while keeping the noise of the fans within limits’. They released a review earlier this week of the handheld console, which now costs 799 euros. A cheaper variant should appear later.
