Netflix has reduced prices for its subscriptions in more than 100 countries worldwide. In certain countries, the price of the basic subscription would drop by almost half. No price changes have been announced for the Netherlands and Belgium for the time being.

The full list of countries and regions has been shared by research firm Ampere Analysis. Most of the countries and regions on the list are in Asia, Africa and South America, but the Bulgarian, Croatian, Slovenian markets are also eligible. In Indonesia, Thailand, Egypt and Morocco, the price of the Basic subscription has fallen by almost half. In Kenya, the price of that subscription is falling by 57 percent.

According to Ampere Analysis, about 10 million existing Netflix subscribers could benefit from the price drop, although the prices also apply to new customers. For customers in Belgium and the Netherlands, nothing will change for the time being and the price change will not apply.

The American streaming service also wants to offer a cheaper subscription with advertisements in the future. In early November 2022, such a cheaper subscription introduced in the United States, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. In France, the cheaper Netflix subscription costs 5.99 euros. In Germany it costs 4.99 euros. For that money, customers can watch on 1 device at a time and a resolution of ‘up to 720p’ is offered. It is not clear when Netflix will also introduce the formula in Belgium and the Netherlands.
