Sono Motors raises 47 million euros to save the Sion solar car

Sono Motors, the German company that focuses on making the Sion solar car, has raised 47 million euros to date. This was done in the context of a kind of fundraising campaign, because the company is in need of money. The campaign, which started on December 8, 2022, is called #savesion.

The campaign to raise more money, is being extended until February 28, and the company says it will continue to talk to potential investors in the meantime. According to Sono Motors, the plan is working so far, given the $47 million raised from 8,600 community members and other sources. The company believes that the extended campaign will eventually lead to the goal of raising 100 million euros. So more than 50 million euros will have to come in in the coming month. Sono Motors recently raised 1.46 million euros from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.

Follow Sono Motors, the involvement of the community shows that there is again a clear market demand for the Sion. The company says it is determined by the “thousands of phone calls, emails and personal contacts with the community.” Currently there are more than 44,000 orders, including 21,000 private reservations including deposit, 1,500 new private reservations with deposit commitments, and 22,000 non-binding business orders.
