Dutch studio will release turn-based strategy game Age of Wonders 4 on May 2

The Delft developer Triumph Studios has announced Age of Wonders 4. Like the previous three numbered games, the fourth game takes place in a fantasy setting. The game will be released on May 2 on PC via Steam, and on Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Age of Wonders 4 is a turn-based 4x strategy game, where players are given a lot of freedom in creating their nations. For example, they can choose the body type, society form, and magical powers for their people. Players can fight with armies or large monsters. The game can be played in both multiplayer and single player.

The new game will include a morale system and an event system to make battles and stories within the game more varied. Players can play on different maps, such as frozen landscapes and deserts.

The last numbered Age of Wonders game appeared in 2014. Age of Wonders: Planetfall did appear in 2019, but unlike other Age of Wonders games, this game took place in a futuristic sci-fi setting. With Age of Wonders 4, Triumph Studios returns to the ‘familiar’ fantasy setting of previous titles. Triumph Studios was acquired by Paradox in 2017.
