Snapchat gets support for iPads

Snapchat will receive native support for iPads from version 13.4.0.41. The app has been available for iOS since 2011, but until now iPad users could only use the iPhone version with a large black border around the app.

The iPad version from Snapchat, unlike the iPhone version, fills the entire screen. However, the iPad version is still limited in functionality. For example, the app only works in portrait mode and lacks support for functions such as Split View and Slide Over. Nevertheless, this update offers advantages, such as an improved overview of contacts and the ability to receive notifications on the iPad.

With this step, Snapchat distinguishes itself from competitor Instagram, which despite repeated requests from users is still does not have a full-fledged iPad app released. Instagram users therefore still have to rely on the iPhone version in enlarged format or the web version.
