Samsung introduces ‘ultra-short-throw’ laser projectors with 4k resolution

Samsung has announced two new ultra-short-throw laser projectors. This concerns The Premiere 9 and The Premiere 7. Both devices have a 4k resolution and can project an image with a diagonal of 130 inches.

Ultra-short-throw projectors project the image from very close. The Premiere 9, the high-end model, uses triple laser technology, where three separate laser sources produce red, green and blue light. Both models support HDR10+ and offer a wide color gamut, with The Premiere 9 covering up to 154 percent of the DCI-P3 standard. The Premiere 7 can display 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

The projectors run on Samsung’s Tizen OS Home, giving users access to various streaming services. They have AI upscaling and automatically adjust the image quality to the ambient lighting. Both projectors also get built-in speakers that support Dolby Atmos. In terms of connectivity, the projectors support SmartThings, voice control and content sharing from smartphones. Both projectors will be available from September 6. The Premiere 9 will have a suggested retail price of 6,800 euros and The Premiere 7 will cost 3,800 euros.
